Description of NSA The professionals at the National Security Agency (NSA) have one common goal: to protect our nation. The mission requires a strong offense and a steadfast defense. The defense prevents adversaries from gaining access to sensitive classified national security information. Description of Position NSA's Security and Counterintelligence (S&CI) Group assists the agency with conducting the defensive aspect of our mission. Specifically, S&CI is responsible for safeguarding NSA's information, people, and facilities around the globe. Security Analysts play a key role in those efforts. As a Security Analyst, you will be responsible for applying Department of Defense (DoD), Intelligence Community (IC), and NSA policies, standards, and tradecraft to identify, collect, analyze, understand, and assess the CI and counterterrorism (CT) landscape as it pertains to NSA operations and equities. To accomplish this task you will examine all-source intelligence to render assessments that predict, inform, and assist our customers in understanding current and future CI/CT threats - as well as to recommend countermeasures that enable NSA to appropriately manage those risks. You will communicate your analytic findings and recommendations to internal and external customers and stakeholders through a variety of settings and mediums including written products and in-person briefings. Security and Counterintelligence is responsible for the protection of NSA/CSS information, people, and facilities worldwide. In support of this mission, Security personnel oversee the development, installation, and maintenance of physical security systems. Security personnel help maintain integral elements of an overall security theory, posture, and infrastructure designed to efficiently deter, delay, detect and identify threats to NSA people, resources and facilities.

Salary Range: $49,157 - $78,167 (Entry/Developmental) *The qualifications listed are the minimum acceptable to be considered for the position. Salary offers are based on candidates' education level and years of experience relevant to the position and also take into account information provided by the hiring manager/organization regarding the work level for the position. Entry is with a Bachelor's degree and no experience. A high school diploma or GED plus 4 years of relevant experience, or an Associate's degree plus 2 years of relevant experience may be considered. Degree Criminology, Behavioral Science, Law Enforcement, Psychology, or Political Science is preferred, but a degree in any field is acceptable. Relevant experience must be in financial analysis, research analysis, intelligence analysis, risk assessment, or NSA security. Salary Range: $72,750 - $113,362 (Full Performance) *The qualifications listed are the minimum acceptable to be considered for the position. Salary offers are based on candidates' education level and years of experience relevant to the position and also take into account information provided by the hiring manager/organization regarding the work level for the position. Entry is with a Bachelor's degree plus 3 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree plus 1 year of relevant experience or a Doctoral degree and no experience. A high school diploma or GED plus 7 years of relevant experience, or an Associate's degree plus 5 years of relevant experience may be considered. Degree Criminology, Behavioral Science, Law Enforcement, Psychology, or Political Science is preferred, but a degree in any field is acceptable. Relevant experience must be in financial analysis, research analysis, intelligence analysis, risk assessment, or NSA security.

The ideal candidate must possess: - Developed critical thinking skills, including the ability to remain open to alternate positions or analysis; - Demonstrated ability to research, develop, and write high-quality analysis and briefings on key topics of interest to the IC; - Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to clearly convey complex information or technical data; - Ability to work effectively both in independent and collaborative environments; - Creative problem solving skills and initiative in carrying out mission responsibilities, based on supervisory guidance, in a fast paced environment; - Ability to independently establish priorities and manage multiple competing actions while maintaining a customer focused and professional bearing. A highly competitive candidate will also possess: - Prior all-source analytic experience within the IC or military with demonstrated tradecraft and critical thinking skills; - A basic knowledge of IC policy and procedures and demonstrated knowledge of IC analytic tradecraft; and, - An ability to apply knowledge of IC, military, and relevant customer organizations or operations to effectively translate their requirements and provide appropriate responses to meet customer needs.

On-the job training, internal NSA courses, and external training will be made available based on the need and experience of the selectee. Monday - Friday, with basic 8hr/day work requirements between 0600 and 1800 (flexible).
