Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to: - Inform the Inspector General (IG), Deputy IG, and OIG Senior Leadership Team about significant developments in the law, important judicial, administrative, or other decisions affecting the OIG, its people, or its resources; -Advise and assist OIG senior leaders in OIG strategic plan, policy, and management directive development; -Support OIG leaders in developing effective management internal controls that ensure OIG programs and operations comply with applicable laws, regulations, and professional standards; -Oversee OIG relationships with Congress and Office of Management and Budget; -Establish and maintain effective working relationships in and outside of the OIG, especially with DoD IG , IG of the Intelligence Community (ICIG), and NSA/CSS Office of General Counsels -(OGCs), to identify and share best legal/counsel practices relevant to the oversight community and Council of Inspectors General on Integrity & Efficiency; -Establish procedures and conduct training to ensure IG and OIG staff understand their responsibilities under the Standards for Ethical Conduct for Employees of the Executive Branch (Ethical Standards) and federal conflict of interest laws; -Provide guidance to the OIG to ensure employees are free both in fact and appearance from personal, external, and organizational impairments to independence; -Determine Counsel-specific goals and objectives that need additional emphasis, develop measures to evaluate Counsel performance, make recommendations for program improvement, and effectively manage assigned resources; and -Provide professional leadership, direction, and mentorship to attorneys and staff responsible for giving legal advice and guidance to the OIG.

Minimum Professional Qualifications (demonstrated experience in each factor is required): Candidates must have graduated from an ABA-accredited law school with a Juris Doctor Degree and be a member in good standing of a State Bar. Candidate must have a minimum of 10 years of experience engaged in the active practice of law. Fundamental Competencies of interpersonal skills, integrity/honesty, writing/oral communications, continual learning, and public service motivation must also be reflected in the application/resume.

This is a full-time position, AWS5 (normally Monday - Friday). The selectee should be prepared to travel occasionally to meetings in the greater Washington, DC area. Periodic extended hours may be necessary. International and domestic travel may be required. The incumbent is subject to random drug and polygraph testing.
